Youth Elly Award Ceremony

The Roseville Theatre Arts Academy’s auditorium was sold out Sunday, Sept. 7, as the Sacramento Regional Theatre Alliance announced the winners of its Youth Elly Awards.

Sutter Street Theatre and St. Mary’s High School came away with the most awards, each garnering six. They were followed by Rocklin Community Theatre, taking home five wins.

The productions receiving the most awards included Shrek the Musical at St. Mary’s, responsible for five of St. Mary’s six awards, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at Rocklin Community Theatre, also taking home five awards.

If the Shoe Fits, the True Tale of Cinderella at the Roseville Theatre Arts Academy earned high honors, bringing in four awards, including Best Original Script.

Acceptance speeches were full of thanks to family and friends, memorials for mentors and parents who had passed on, and a little humor thrown in here and there for good measure.
